WIDA Available Resources

Standards, Professional Development, and ACCESS for ELLs Information

  1. Go to WIDA website.
  2. Click on the appropriate tab at the top of the web page for specific information about ACCESS for ELLs tests (Assess), teaching and family engagement (Teach), or professional development (Grow).
  3. Information on the Standards is also available on the web page.

Placement Tests to Identify, Screen, and Place New EL Students

The WIDA Screener for Kindergarten and the WIDA Screener Online (for grades 1–12) are free and designed for two purposes:

  1. To identify students who may be English Learners
  2. To determine English language proficiency levels and appropriate amounts of instructional services

To access the WIDA Screener Online training, log into your personal account, select the Assessment Training tab, and filter for Screener Online. The WIDA Screener Online is available through WIDA-AMS. Consumable materials are available for download in the training module.

To access the WIDA Screener for Kindergarten training, log into your personal account, select the Assessment Training tab, and filter for Screener for Kindergarten. The WIDA Screener for Kindergarten is an individually administered paper screener. Consumable materials are available for download in the training module.

Those wishing to use the WIDA Screener Paper may purchase materials at the WIDA Online Store. WIDA Screener Paper training is available on the WIDA Secure Portal through your personal account. Select the Assessment Training tab, and filter for Screener Paper.

If you do not have a personal account, instructions for account creation can be found on the Department's ACCESS for ELLs webpage.

The WIDA Resource Library

Go to the WIDA website.

Click "Resource Library" located in the upper left-hand corner.

The WIDA Resource Library offers resources and materials for EL educators on topics including standards and instructional practices, research, accommodations, family engagement, and Can Do descriptors.

Massachusetts State Page on the WIDA Website

The Massachusetts state page on the WIDA website provides information about WIDA in Massachusetts. It contains contact information, test administration dates and policies, professional development opportunities, and training and certification information for ACCESS for ELLs test administrators.
